Jungle Trek?

Are huaraches a bad idea for a jungle trek in the tropics?

Most people wear big hiking boots because your feet can get wet or maybe you can get a snake bite or cut.

I own huaraches but not a pair of hiking boots. I don't really want to bring a heavy pair of hiking boots to Southeast Asia with me.

I know people who've done jungle treks in Invisible Shoes… and I know some who've used them as backups (so they can walk through water without getting their boots wet, for example).

It's a personal preference. The question is: would you be okay trekking barefoot, but with some protection for your sole?
